Course Description
This is a semester long course where students will be exploring the photographic medium using digital tools. Each project will help students become more aware of their personal expression and view of the world while learning important photographic techniques such as composing a photograph, taking portraits, landscapes, and still-life, while learning basic camera functions and skills. Students will also become experts with photo manipulation using Adobe Photoshop and build their own Google portfolio website. |
Grading For each photography project students are given three grades, the first grade is given for having their photos taken on time and ready to edit in class, the next grade is given for completion of the final project and meeting all requirements, and the final grade is given for thoughtful reflection in their artist statements. Students turn in all work by uploading it to their portfolio. Re-grade policy: I believe that photographers are always improving their artwork and learning and growing, therefore I do offer a re-grade policy. This option is only available to students who received a grade for having their photos ready to edit in class. If students wish to re-shoot and re-edit and turn in their project, I will re-grade it for them. Partial-Credit option: If a student is really struggling to take their photos, they may use photos off the internet for a partial-credit option. These photos are still required to fit the theme of the project, be edited, and turned in with an artist statement explaining why the student couldn’t take their own photos. Students will receive a partial-credit grade. |
