6th Grade
Course Description This is an introductory course offered to all 6th grade students and is designed to build their artistic skills, creativity, and personal voice. Units we have done in the past include a surrealist collage, zentangle watercolor animals, printmaking, installation art, self-portraits, creative drawing, ceramic pots, marbling, and various other projects. This course is designed to help all students feel confident in their artistic abilities, no matter the previous skill level. A wide range of artistic mediums will be explored so that all students can find mediums that they are confident in and enjoy working with. The philosophy behind this class is that all students have creative capabilities that can be developed and explored through the process of visual art making. |
Grading
Boltz Middle School uses the Standards-Based Grading Framework which was created to establish a teaching and learning framework that serves all students. In Art, students are assessed and graded based on the four Colorado state art standards; observe and learn to comprehend, envision and critique to reflect, invent and discover to create, and relate and connect to transfer.
